What you should know:
You can use any normal deck of cards to accomplish this
A large portion of this skill is muscle memory, which means lots of practice
The goal is to throw the card across, not just drop it off your hand.
Step 1:
Begin by getting a feel for the hand positioning. Your Index finger and thumb will be at the top of the deck and your pinky will be doing the motion of moving the top card.
For just getting started I found the easiest way to understand the concept was to tightly pinch the top of the deck and just work on using your pinky to move the card off.
Step 2:
Next you'll want to move the deck more into the palm of your hand while still holding the top with your index finger and thumb. At this point though youll want to focus on creating tension between your pinky and thumb. The more tension the more distance the card will travel when you pick it off with your pinky.
Step 3:
Practice, Practice, Practice. Given that this skill is more muscle memory based you just want to keep practicing flicking the card off the top. Eventually youll see the card start moving to the other side with ease.
